2005 - SMART Moves - finding the balance, Brisbane

Welcome to the 2005 Australian Association for the Manual Handling of People Conference

Following the success of the inaugural conference of the AAMHP in Adelaide 2003, the Brisbane organising committee is pleased to invite you to the 2nd Biennial Conference.

The Conference brings together a multidisciplinary audience to share knowledge and experience of safer people handling methods and systems whilst enjoying the beautiful surrounds of sunny Brisbane.

In conjunction with the learning experience of international and national experts in the field, and significant networking opportunities of the conference, we anticipate a large trade exhibition to support ongoing innovations and improvements in the safer handling of patients.

The conference is aimed at health care professionals, workplace health and safety personnel, risk managers and carers within the areas of:

  • Acute health care settings
  • Aged and community settings
  • Disability services
  • Emergency services

The theme of the conference is SMART MOVES - finding the balance (incorporating the legal, ethical and ergonomic issues involved in moving people safely, designing facilities and caring for both the client and worker)

The "hot topics" for the conference are:

  • Better by design
  • Balancing the care - legal perspective of balancing people care with safe lifting principles
  • Injury prevention - systems and outcomes
  • Innovation and manual handling in difficult situations
  • Staff well being
  • Training and education

Your participation is vital to the success of the conference and we look forward to your contributions and welcoming you to Brisbane.
