2014 - SAFER Handling

2014 - SAFER Handling

The 2014 Conference, SAFER Handling, is shaping up to a fantastic conference with lots of interest from industry participants and trade suppliers.

For those new to the Association, the association has been going strong for over 10 years with the Conference format aiming at bringing together ideas and improvement strategies from across the globe in the systems, training, equipment and assistive devices available to safely move and handle people in the health and community industry.

The 2014 Conference theme, SAFER Handling, builds on five core pillars:

  1. Systems and risk management strategies
  2. Adverse patient events (Falls, pressure and challenging behaviours)
  3. Facility design and environmental controls
  4. Equipment and assistive devices
  5. Research and evaluation

Maximise your exposure and share you innovations with the safe moving and handling trainers, adviser and decision makers.  The Association is keen to ensure participants are kept abreast with changes and improvements with equipment and assistive devices.  Opportunities are available for sponsorship options and trade exhibition space.  Additionally, your organisation may wish to consider proposing a presentation or workshop from your clinical adviser.  New for 2014 Conference is a "new inventors-style" session to explore recent advances and innovations to the Australian market.  For more information, please contact YRD, Conference Organisers.

Vic Group 1 day Workshop

The recent members survey has identified strong interest for more workshop style events to build and share our knowledge in the safe handling and movement of people.

The Victorian Regional Committee have put together an innovative workshop program, combining interactive presentations with practical problem solving and product displays of new equipment and assistive devices to the Australian market.

Date:        Saturday 22 June 2013
Time:       8:30 for 9:00am start. Concluding at 16:30
Where:    Sofitel Melbourne, 25 Collins St, Melbourne, Victoria

2012 Annual General Meeting

The year has certainly past quickly!! The Executive team would like to host an Annual General Meeting (AGM) to celebrate the close of the year.

Nominations for Executive Positions:
As per the AAMHP Constitution, the term of office for the Executive Positions are 2 years. After whcih the positions are open for nomination by any financial member of the Association. Existing Executive members are open to re-nominate. If there is more than one nomination for each position, members will vote in a secret ballot.
