Slide sheets reduce the incidence of skin tears to residents and back injuries to carers, but implementations rates and barriers are not known. This pilot study surveys care staff in 3 Residential Aged Care Facilities in Australia regarding their use of slide sheets. Carers report knowing the benefits of their use, but not using them as much as recommended in the care plans. Barriers to their use include accessibility, perceived time pressures and the influence of co-workers. Possible solutions include suggestions regarding colour coding and visibility, training and mentoring.
